Fuel prices in Morocco are expected to decrease again, starting today, Thursday, May 1, 2025, according to sources.
This reduction will affect both diesel and premium gasoline. The price of one liter of diesel is expected to drop by 0.20 dirhams, while the price of premium gasoline (Super Sans Plomb) will decrease by the same amount, according to the same sources.
This adjustment comes as part of the regular review conducted by fuel distribution companies twice a month, based on fluctuations in international oil prices, as well as the costs of purchasing, storing, and transporting the fuel, all of which reflect on the prices at gas stations in the country.
This relative price drop is expected to alleviate some of the pressure on consumers, especially in light of the economic context characterized by rising living costs and growing social demands to improve purchasing power.
Fuel prices had seen almost continuous increases in recent years, which triggered a wave of criticism and protests, especially from professionals and transport consumers. The Moroccan government attributes this rise to fluctuations in the international market, the increase in crude oil prices, and the consequences of geopolitical crises, emphasizing that external factors largely control the composition of final prices.
Although the announced drop may not seem significant in terms of value, it remains a positive indicator for some stakeholders, particularly in the transport sector, who hope for price stability or further reductions in the coming periods.
