Local Sources Sound Alarm: Slow Development Deepens Hardship in Tamhdit Commune, Ifrane

Danger Lurks for Schoolgirls Around Educational Institutions in Aïn Chkef Amid Victims’ Silence and Fearful Complicity

The surroundings of several educational institutions in the commune of Aïn Chkef have turned into zones of concern and silent alert, following repeated reports from local residents about suspicious activities involving delinquent individuals targeting schoolgirls. These individuals move freely, taking advantage of a lack of adequate security presence.

A local source told Fes News that a second-year baccalaureate student had been repeatedly subjected to sexual assaults by a man locally referred to as a “human monster,” who had been stalking her near one of the rural schools in the commune.

Although the incident was officially reported, information indicates that the perpetrator managed to flee with his brother. However, the two have occasionally reappeared near educational institutions, threatening schoolgirls using tactics ranging from intimidation and coercion to manipulation. The victims, gripped by fear of retaliation or social stigma, have remained completely silent.

The Royal Gendarmerie in Aïn Chkef has launched an investigation and placed the main suspect on the national wanted list. Meanwhile, his brother continues to roam the area freely, lingering near schools and continuing to pose a threat to the girls, undeterred.

This alarming situation, which directly endangers the psychological and physical safety of schoolgirls, has triggered widespread concern among parents and local stakeholders. Many have called through various platforms for increased security presence and the activation of preventive and protective mechanisms—especially during early morning hours and the late afternoon, when students are most vulnerable.

In this grim context, silence remains dominant, and the school surroundings in Aïn Chkef are in desperate need of real collective vigilance and firm intervention to put an end to the ongoing threats, restoring the school’s safe and educational role in the rural community.
