Moulay Yacoub Traders and Residents Protest Car Parking in Front of Traditional Pools, Local Council Pledges Intervention

Moulay Yacoub: A number of traders and residents of Moulay Yacoub gathered at the headquarters of the Moulay Yacoub Commune today, Monday, April 21, 2025, at 11:00 AM, where they were received by the Council President. During the meeting, the protesters expressed their demands, focusing primarily on what they described as an “urgent” issue concerning the passage and parking of vehicles in front of the new building of the traditional swimming pools.

The protesters, according to a statement issued by the Moulay Yacoub Commune, explained that this situation “harms all economic activities in Moulay Yacoub and threatens the closure of a number of them.”

The Council President affirmed during the reception of the protesters that the Council “has adopted a decision to prohibit vehicle access” to the concerned area. He added that “the competent authorities have been informed to implement the Council’s decision,” emphasizing that this issue “enjoys utmost importance and further efforts will be made to resolve this problem.”

The Council President indicated that the Commune’s efforts will include “communication with the competent authorities to ensure the proper implementation of the decision and the taking of physical measures to prevent car parking.”

This move by the traders and residents expresses their concern regarding the negative impact of indiscriminate car parking on commercial and economic activity in the area, which prompted the intervention of the Communal Council to emphasize the taking of necessary measures to protect economic activities and ensure the smooth flow of traffic.
