Interior Ministry Launches Wide Disciplinary Campaign Against Taxi Violations: Hundreds of Licenses Revoked and Strict Measures Ahead

The Ministry of the Interior has intensified its efforts to regulate the taxi sector by activating mixed regional committees, which bring together experts from monitoring agencies, road transport, security, and local authorities to combat violations and illegal practices that are harming the sector.

In a statement before the House of Representatives, Interior Minister Abdelouafi Laftit explained that authorities are implementing decisive measures against offending drivers, ranging from imposing fines and vehicle seizures to revoking licenses. These licenses are referred to local committees for review, with the possibility of temporarily suspending or permanently canceling them depending on the severity of the violation.

Official figures show that the Rabat region has recorded, from the beginning of 2023 to early 2025, the temporary revocation of 500 licenses, in addition to 25 licenses being permanently revoked.

Disciplinary committees at the regional level continue to review complaints from citizens and reports from security services to determine appropriate penalties and ensure compliance with legal frameworks.

This campaign reflects the ministry’s commitment to reinforcing discipline in the public transport sector, amid calls to expand monitoring efforts to include various Moroccan cities in order to provide reliable and safe services to citizens.
