High-Level French Delegation Visits Meknes International Agriculture Exhibition: Strengthening Moroccan-French Partnership in Facing Climate and Food Security Challenges

A French official delegation representing the International Agriculture Exhibition in Paris arrived in Meknes to participate in the current edition of the International Agriculture Exhibition of Morocco, the largest agricultural event in Africa. This visit reflects the depth of the Moroccan-French partnership in the agricultural sector and its focus on new horizons for cooperation.

The delegation is headed by Jérôme Despey, President of the Paris International Agriculture Exhibition. Despey is expected to engage in a series of meetings and discussions with stakeholders and professionals from around the world to exchange insights and experiences on the future of agriculture and its challenges.

According to a statement from the Paris exhibition’s management, this participation continues the momentum of cooperation that marked the February session in the French capital. The French presence this year is not just symbolic but represents a dynamic and practical shift in bilateral relations, particularly in agriculture and food industries.

The French delegation, which accepted the invitation from the Moroccan side, has an agenda that includes strategic issues impacting the agricultural sectors in both countries, such as water resource management, improving plant and animal breeds, and discussing the effects of climate change on agricultural systems and ways to adapt to them.

In a statement to the press on the sidelines of the event, Jérôme Despey emphasized that “the relationship with Morocco gives the Paris exhibition an exceptional international dimension, based on the values of partnership, openness, and solidarity.” He added that “France and Morocco are regional powers in agriculture, which necessitates uniting efforts to face climate challenges and ensure food security.”

This official visit opens the door for further coordination between the two sides and highlights the importance of specialized agricultural exhibitions, not only as promotional platforms but also as spaces for building strategic partnerships, transferring technology, and fostering innovation in the sector.
