Heightened Security at the Faculty of Law in Meknes Amid Preparations for a Banned Student Event (Photos)

The area surrounding the Faculty of Law at Moulay Ismail University in Meknes witnessed a heavy security presence earlier today, coinciding with preparations by a group of students to organize a controversial event that had previously been banned by the university administration.

The security intervention followed reports that students planned to hold a cultural event inside the campus, despite the university’s prior ban on the event.

According to reliable sources, local authorities deployed additional security forces around the university to prevent any gatherings that could disrupt public order or interfere with the normal academic schedule.

It is worth noting that Moulay Ismail University had previously taken similar actions on other occasions. For instance, in April 2025, the university suspended classes for three days at the Faculties of Law, Economics and Social Sciences, Literature and Humanities, and Sciences, in anticipation of a student event that the university’s administration considered “more than just a cultural activity.” The administration emphasized that the event’s organizers were “unauthorized,” and the request related to it was “not signed or endorsed by the relevant authorities.”

The university confirmed in an official statement that these measures were taken to maintain the normal course of studies and ensure the safety of students, administrative, and educational staff within the university institutions.
