The elements of the Judicial Police Department in Tetouan, in coordination with their counterparts in Tangier and Ksar El Kebir, managed yesterday evening, Wednesday, and this morning, Thursday, April 16 and 17, to seize 3,600 narcotic pills and arrest four individuals, including two brothers and a policeman with the rank of “Moqadem.” This operation was carried out in connection with suspicions of their involvement in a criminal network active in the trafficking of drugs and psychotropic substances.
This security operation came as part of ongoing investigations and inquiries conducted by the judicial police after the arrest of two individuals on the outskirts of the city of Wazan on March 20. They were caught red-handed in possession of and trafficking 94,728 narcotic pills and three kilograms of cocaine. Three other suspects remained at large until their locations were identified and they were arrested in Ksar El Kebir and Tangier.
The results of the searches conducted revealed that the suspects were in possession of 3,600 narcotic pills. Furthermore, it was discovered that one of the suspects was involved in this criminal activity as a security officer with the rank of Moqadem. A database check with the National Security confirmed that two of the suspects were subjects of national arrest warrants issued by the judicial police departments in Tangier and Casablanca for their alleged involvement in similar drug trafficking cases.
The four suspects are currently under judicial investigation under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office, aiming to determine the potential extensions of this criminal activity and to arrest the other participants and contributors involved in these offenses.
