In a move that reflects a spirit of collective initiative and the neglect of responsible authorities, Fes News has obtained information and a video documenting the intervention of residents of Al-Quds neighborhood in Tahla yesterday to repair roads and fill potholes with cement and sand. This community-driven action comes after years of marginalization and the absence of any official intervention to improve the neighborhood’s infrastructure, which has visibly deteriorated, especially due to rainfall.
The repaired section is a main passageway connecting the neighborhood to other parts of the town, but it has become a problematic point in the road network due to repeated damage and lack of regular maintenance. According to testimonies from residents, this initiative is not the first of its kind, as they have frequently carried out similar repairs whenever floods cause new damage to the road.
Residents also pointed to another issue aggravating the situation: the inaction of the National Office for Potable Water in maintaining the sewage network, leading to blockages and road damage due to wastewater and rainwater overflow.
While this initiative highlights community awareness and the importance of collaborative efforts, it also raises serious questions about the role of local authorities and their commitment to ensuring proper infrastructure for citizens beyond the temporary solutions that residents are forced to adopt whenever conditions worsen.
