As part of the tourism momentum in the city of Fez, the sector has experienced remarkable growth in overnight stays at classified tourist accommodations during January 2025. According to the latest report by the National Tourism Observatory, these establishments recorded a 35% increase compared to the same period last year.
The report states that total overnight stays reached 71,684 in January 2025, up from 53,160 in January 2024, reflecting a positive trend in the city’s tourism performance. The hotel occupancy rate stabilized at 38%, indicating the sustained recovery of the local tourism sector, driven by the growing appeal of Fez among both domestic and international visitors.
Thanks to this growth, Fez ranked fifth nationwide in overnight stays for January 2025, following Marrakech, Agadir, Casablanca, and Tangier. This outstanding performance is attributed to the city’s rich cultural heritage, unique historical landmarks, and a well-developed tourism infrastructure that caters to diverse visitor expectations.
This positive development underscores the increasing role of tourism in strengthening the local economy, directly supporting commercial activities and service industries linked to the sector.
The upward trend is expected to continue in the coming months, driven by initiatives aimed at enhancing the city’s attractiveness, improving tourism services, and elevating the visitor experience, further solidifying Fez’s position as one of Morocco’s top tourist destinations.
