Dangerous Digital Fraud: Fake Account Impersonating Prime Minister Promotes Fake Digital Transactions on X Platform

The Prime Minister’s Office has revealed the existence of a fake account on the social media platform “X” (formerly Twitter) that impersonates Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch and promotes a fictitious Moroccan cryptocurrency and fake digital transactions.

In an official statement released today, Wednesday, the Prime Minister’s Office clarified that the mentioned account uses the name and title of the Prime Minister without any connection to the Prime Minister’s Office or Mr. Aziz Akhannouch, warning of the potential misinformation spread by the content shared.

The statement confirmed that the only official, authorized account reflecting the activities of the Prime Minister and the Prime Minister’s Office on “X” is ChefGov_ma@. It urged citizens and social media users to verify and cross-check news sources, relying only on official channels to avoid falling victim to misinformation.

The Prime Minister’s Office also stressed the importance of exercising caution when dealing with fake accounts and affirmed that it reserves the right to take necessary actions against any attempts to mislead the public or exploit the identities of government officials for unlawful purposes.
