Fez Festival of Sacred Music Returns with a New Spirit of Renaissance and Openness

As part of efforts to promote cultural dialogue and openness to various civilizations, the city of Fez is preparing to host the 28th edition of the Fez Festival of World Sacred Music, scheduled to take place from May 16 to 24, 2025, under the theme “Renaissances.” This cultural event aims to strengthen intercultural dialogue and reinforce values of coexistence and openness, reflecting Fez’s identity as a hub of cultural and civilizational influence.

According to the Spirit of Fez Foundation, the festival’s organizing body, this edition will feature over 200 artists from 15 countries, including Italy, Turkey, France, Spain, Switzerland, and Oman. Additionally, there will be a strong presence of artists from African countries such as Senegal, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Burundi, and Togo.

This year, the festival places a strong emphasis on the African dimension, celebrating the continent’s rich musical heritage and highlighting the role of African youth in preserving and passing down cultural traditions. This initiative aligns with Morocco’s commitment to enhancing South-South cultural cooperation, reaffirming the country’s deep African ties.

Italy has been chosen as the guest of honor for this edition, with a special focus on Florence, the birthplace of the European Renaissance between the 14th and 17th centuries. The festival will celebrate the cultural connection between Florence and Fez, emphasizing their historical twinning and shared legacy as centers of artistic and spiritual creativity.

The festival’s program is expected to include musical performances, scenographic shows, intellectual debates, and cultural meetings, reflecting the diversity of global musical heritage. The detailed schedule and ticket sale dates will be announced soon, according to the organizers.
