Parking Chaos in Morocco: Minister of Interior Faces Parliamentary Inquiry

The Haraki parliamentary group in the House of Representatives has submitted a written inquiry to the Minister of Interior, Abdelouafi Laftit, regarding the disorganized state of parking facilities in major and mid-sized cities. The inquiry highlights the worsening traffic congestion due to the rising number of vehicles and the severe shortage of parking spaces.

Daily Struggles for Citizens and Tourists

The parliamentary group stressed that urban gridlock has become a daily challenge for residents, commuters, and visitors to public institutions. This issue also negatively impacts tourists—both local and international— making it urgent to implement structured parking solutions, especially as Morocco prepares to host major international sporting events.

Calls for Immediate Action

The group has urged the Ministry of Interior to clarify its plans for:
Developing underground parking facilities in key cities.
Regulating and eliminating illegal parking operators, who unlawfully charge motorists.

With public frustration growing, the demand for urgent and effective parking reforms is louder than ever.
