The regional security services in Essaouira acted swiftly and decisively in response to a widely circulated video on social media platforms. The video showed two individuals carrying bladed weapons chasing a third person and attempting to board a public passenger bus, thereby endangering the lives of the passengers.
According to preliminary investigations conducted based on the video, the incident is linked to a criminal case currently being handled by the Essaouira police. This follows a report of an armed dispute involving bladed weapons among a group of individuals, which escalated into one of them seeking refuge inside a passenger bus while being pursued by his adversaries.
The intensive investigations carried out by the security services led to the identification of the suspects involved in the dispute. Two brothers, aged 20 and 25, were arrested, while efforts continue to locate and apprehend the third suspect.
The two arrested suspects have been placed under judicial investigation under the supervision of the relevant public prosecutor’s office. This is to uncover all the circumstances and details surrounding the case, as well as to determine the criminal acts attributed to the individuals involved. The security services are continuing their efforts to ensure the investigation is thorough and comprehensive, aiming to uphold justice and protect the safety of citizens.
