“Made in Morocco”: Boosting National Production and Reducing Import Dependency

The city of Fez witnessed yesterday the inauguration of the new industrial unit of Zinco, the national leader in the manufacturing and distribution of electrical meters. With an investment of 12 million dirhams, this project will enhance national production and create 71 new job opportunities, contributing to Morocco’s industrial sovereignty.

This industrial unit will enable the production of advanced smart electrical meters, supporting precise consumption measurement and remote management, as well as integration into smart electrical grids. With an annual production capacity of 900,000 meters, the project will reduce reliance on imports and meet the needs of national and African infrastructure.

The project aligns with the vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, aimed at promoting sustainability and energy efficiency in Morocco, representing a qualitative leap in the field of smart industries.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Mr. Ryad Mezzour, Minister of Industry and Trade, alongside Mr. Anouar Zine El Filali, General Manager of Zinco, and Mr. Abdelouahed El Ansari, President of the Fez-Meknes Regional Council, in addition to several stakeholders from the public and private sectors.

This project marks a significant step towards strengthening national industry and underscores Morocco’s commitment to achieving self-sufficiency and developing smart infrastructure, in line with the country’s strategic directions in energy and industry.
