In a historic medical milestone for Morocco, a specialized medical and nursing team at Moulay Youssef Hospital in Rabat successfully performed the country’s first-ever surgery to treat tricuspid valve insufficiency. This achievement marks a major advancement in cardiac surgery within non-university hospitals.
The five-hour procedure was conducted on a 63-year-old patient under the supervision of Professor Mohamed El Aaroussi, Head of the Cardiac Surgery Department at Ibn Sina University Hospital in Rabat, with the participation of a dedicated medical and nursing team from Moulay Youssef Hospital.
This breakthrough highlights Morocco’s growing medical expertise and the significant progress made by national healthcare institutions. The success of this surgery underscores the readiness of local hospitals to provide advanced cardiac care in line with the highest medical and surgical standards.
