Moroccan athlete Abdelati El Guesse has secured his spot for the upcoming indoor World Athletics Championships scheduled next month in China by winning the 800m event at the Lyon Indoor Meeting.
El Guesse, who achieved his third consecutive victory in Lyon, completed the 800m race with a time of 1:45.21, breaking both the meeting record and his own national record.
The Moroccan athlete had previously excelled in earlier meetings, clocking 1:45.35 at the Liévin Meeting on February 13, and 1:45.57 at the Miramas Meeting on January 31.
The Lyon Indoor Meeting featured over 60 Olympic athletes from 32 different nations.
