Casablanca, Tuesday, February 11, 2025 – A tragic incident claimed the life of a 16-year-old girl after she suffered severe health complications caused by inhaling butane gas, commonly used for refilling lighters. The incident led to her untimely death under distressing circumstances.
According to statements from Mohamed Bennis, Director of the Ain Chock Regional Hospital, the victim was brought to the emergency department at approximately 9:00 PM in a critical condition. Despite medical efforts, her death was confirmed shortly after arrival. Her body was later transferred to the Rahma district morgue for an autopsy, as per the instructions of the public prosecutor, to determine the exact cause of death.
In a related development, the General Directorate of National Security issued an official statement revealing that four individuals were arrested on Wednesday, February 12, by judicial police officers from the Ain Chock Security District. They are suspected of being involved in distributing substances with narcotic effects, enabling minors to consume them, and luring the victim into such activities.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects include a shop owner, his assistant, a café manager, and another individual who was allegedly with the victim when she inhaled the toxic gas. Further inquiries confirmed that the victim succumbed to acute poisoning before reaching the hospital due to butane inhalation, which led to severe health complications and ultimately her death.
