On Sunday, February 9, judicial police officers in the regional security area of Khenifra arrested two people aged 43 and 46, one of them with a criminal record, on suspicion of being involved in the dissemination of false news through information systems that could affect the sense of security of citizens.
This operation came after the National Security Information Vigilance Services monitored posts circulating on social media sites alleging that a schoolgirl was fatally assaulted and her body was disposed of in an area on the outskirts of Khenifra, but security investigations confirmed that the news was unfounded and that no similar case had been registered with the competent authorities.
After thorough investigations, the security authorities were able to identify and arrest the two suspects in the city of Khenifra. One of them was placed under police custody, while the other is undergoing a judicial investigation under the supervision of the competent public prosecution, in order to uncover all the circumstances and backgrounds related to this case.
The security services reiterate their warning against the danger of spreading false news that causes panic among citizens, emphasizing that such acts expose their owners to legal accountability.
