20 African Parliaments, Including Mauritania, Nigeria, and Angola, Announce Participation in Moroccan Atlantic Initiative, Respecting Sovereignty and Territorial Integrity

Twenty African countries, through their legislative institutions, including Mauritania, Nigeria, and Angola, have expressed their support for the Moroccan Atlantic Initiative launched by King Mohammed VI in November 2023. This support was formalized through the adoption of the “Rabat Declaration,” which followed a meeting of the presidents of national parliaments from Atlantic African countries. The declaration explicitly emphasized respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the nations involved.

The Moroccan Atlantic Initiative aims to strengthen cooperation among Atlantic African countries, promoting economic, social, and environmental development in the region. By endorsing this initiative, the participating countries have demonstrated their commitment to fostering regional integration and collaboration, while upholding the principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity.

This collective support highlights the growing recognition of Morocco’s leadership in driving initiatives that benefit the African continent. The Rabat Declaration not only reinforces the importance of unity among Atlantic African nations but also underscores the shared commitment to addressing common challenges and leveraging opportunities for sustainable development.
