Vaccination Campaign at “Ain Sebaa” Prison Against Epidemic Diseases

As part of ongoing efforts by the General Delegation for Prison Administration, in collaboration with health authorities, a periodic vaccination campaign was held at the local “Ain Sebaa” prison, also known as “Oukacha,” on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, targeting epidemic diseases, particularly measles. This campaign covered both inmates and prison staff.

In this context, inmates at the Ain Sebaa 1 health center benefited from the measles vaccination, with 3,567 inmates and 23 staff members receiving the vaccine. Since the outbreak of the epidemic, no cases of infection have been reported within the prison, reflecting the success of the preventive measures implemented by the prison administration.

This initiative is part of the General Delegation’s commitment to ensuring the health and safety of all inmates and staff, offering equal opportunities for vaccination. The campaign was well-received by the inmates, who praised its organization and appreciated the opportunity to voluntarily participate. They were fully informed and had the right to choose whether to receive the vaccine or not.

These efforts represent a significant step in promoting health prevention within penitentiary institutions, underscoring the General Delegation’s dedication to providing a healthy and safe environment for both inmates and prison staff, thus contributing to improved healthcare and raising health awareness within correctional facilities.

Furthermore, the campaign is a successful model of collaboration between various government sectors in the field of public health. Health authorities emphasized the importance of vaccinations as a primary means of preventing epidemics and ensuring the safety of communities.

Thus, the “Ain Sebaa” prison continues its efforts to provide a safe and healthy environment for both inmates and staff, reflecting the success of the preventive policies adopted within the institution.
