Morocco’s water situation is the focus of an important meeting between the Minister of Equipment and Water and a high-level delegation from the International Monetary Fund

A delegation of experts and officials from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), headed by Roberto Cardarelli, head of the Fund’s mission in Morocco, met on Monday at the ministry’s headquarters in Rabat.

The meeting was part of the annual consultations related to the third review of the Flexibility and Sustainability Facility (FSF) agreement signed in favor of the Kingdom.

According to available data, the meeting focused on assessing the water situation in Morocco, reviewing the water policies adopted to deal with the challenges associated with future water scarcity, as well as the progress made in implementing the measures and decisions agreed upon within the Flexibility and Sustainability Agreement.

Among the points discussed during the meeting was the study of water costs in Morocco, as well as discussions on the preparation of two ministerial decrees to implement the Water Law No. 36-15.
