In a targeted security operation, the regional judicial police in Nador, on Wednesday morning, February 5, successfully thwarted an international drug smuggling scheme, following precise intelligence provided by the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance (DGST).
The operation led to the arrest of three individuals, aged between 41 and 57, at the fishing port of Bani Ansar, where they were caught red-handed while preparing to carry out a smuggling operation involving large quantities of drugs.
During the search, authorities uncovered 20 plastic containers containing 375 kilograms of hashish, along with the seizure of three fishing boats and two vehicles, which were being used to facilitate the criminal activity.
The arrested individuals are currently under judicial investigation, under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor, to uncover all potential collaborators in this criminal network and trace its reach both within Morocco and abroad, as part of ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking and enhance national security and stability.
