The urban transport sector in Fez has witnessed a resolution with the suspension of the strike that employees of the “City Bus” company had launched on Friday, January 31, 2025. This development came after a meeting was held under the supervision of local authorities, with representatives from the General Union of Workers in Morocco, the company management, and the Ministry of Labor.
According to a statement issued by the General Union of Workers in Fez, an agreement was reached to address the issues at hand, primarily related to the payment of overdue wages and ensuring the continuous improvement of working conditions.
It was agreed that the workers’ wages for the month of January would be paid within the legal timeframe, and the financial situation regarding overdue payments to the institution would be settled. Additionally, the parties committed to finding sustainable solutions to improve workers’ conditions and ensure the respect of their professional rights.
Local authorities and the Ministry of Labor played a key role in bridging the gap between the parties, contributing to this agreement that aims to restore stability in the sector and provide regular services to the public.
For their part, all involved parties praised the efforts made to ensure constructive dialogue, which led to the termination of the strike, with a commitment to monitoring the implementation of the agreement in a manner that respects the legitimate rights of all parties.
The shared goal remains to strengthen the stability of the urban transport sector and ensure high-quality public service that meets the aspirations of the city’s residents.
