In the public session dedicated to the monthly oral questions held on Monday, January 27, 2025, the Moroccan Prime Minister addressed a range of efforts made by the Kingdom to facilitate the entry of foreign tourists and enhance the national tourism and air transport sectors. He noted significant progress in easing access to electronic visas, with a total of 386,000 e-visas issued between July 2022 and the end of 2024, 95% of which were for tourism purposes.
The Prime Minister emphasized that these substantial achievements are part of ongoing efforts to develop the tourism sector. He stressed the importance of effective marketing, diversifying tourism offers, and improving the quality of services provided to tourists. He explained that the government fully recognizes that the goals of the “Tourism Roadmap” cannot be achieved without focusing on these key areas.
Regarding air transport, the Prime Minister highlighted the special attention given to developing this sector, underlining that diversifying partners is a crucial part of the government’s strategy. He also mentioned that the Moroccan National Tourism Office (ONMT) achieved a significant increase in the number of contracted air seats in 2024, with a 30% rise compared to 2023, amounting to an additional 3.5 million seats. This contributed to raising the overall air seat capacity by 20%.
These efforts are part of the broader strategy to enhance the Kingdom’s ability to accommodate more visitors, expand airport capacity, and strengthen Morocco’s position as a global tourist destination. The Prime Minister assured that the government will continue to work on developing the tourism and air transport sectors to ensure sustainable growth and success in this vital field.
