Government’s Strategy for Tackling Climate and Economic Challenges, Says Mustafa Baitas

In a press conference held yesterday evening after a government council meeting, Mustafa Baitas, Minister for Relations with Parliament and government spokesperson, confirmed that the government is working in full coordination and under the direct guidance of His Majesty the King to ensure a rapid and effective response to Morocco’s challenges in various fields, particularly economic and climatic ones.

Baitas explained that the government prioritizes fulfilling the commitments outlined in the government program, adding that accelerating the pace of work on various development projects is a key part of their strategy. He stated, “We are working under royal guidance and with close follow-up from the Prime Minister to address the current challenges, which require collective efforts, especially in light of the difficult climatic conditions we are facing.”

Baitas also addressed the water issue, highlighting that the government has taken important measures to regulate water use, especially groundwater, which has become increasingly important due to climate change affecting the country’s water sources. He confirmed that the government issued a new decree aimed at regulating and facilitating the licensing process to ensure optimal use of these vital resources.

On political matters, Baitas stressed that the government space is entirely separate from the political space, emphasizing the independence of each. He added, “We in the government do not exercise any form of guardianship over the political space. Each party remains committed to its own political positions, but in the end, the government operates under the guidance of His Majesty the King and with direct oversight from the Prime Minister.”

Baitas also mentioned the government’s significant efforts to improve infrastructure in cities, particularly in projects related to drinking water and irrigation, aiming to ensure the sustainability of these services in the face of climate change challenges.

In conclusion, Baitas reaffirmed that the government continues to work in full coordination, emphasizing that all projects and initiatives launched are part of a comprehensive strategy aimed at improving the economic and social situation of citizens.
