According to an informed source, the technical vehicle inspection sector in Morocco is currently embroiled in heated discussions following decisions made by the Ministry of Equipment and Transport to grant only 176 licenses for the opening of new technical inspection centers, despite official data indicating that 400 candidates meet all the legal requirements to obtain these licenses.
The source added that the former minister had also pointed out that the targeted number was 176 centers, based on a study aimed at balancing costs and field needs. This direction is part of a comprehensive vision to improve technical vehicle inspection services in the country, taking into account urban expansion and the increasing demand for these services.
Nevertheless, voices from within the professional sector have called for a review of this figure to meet the growing needs in major cities, which are experiencing significant pressure on current vehicle inspection centers. This is particularly pressing in light of the urban boom and the expanding cities across the country, especially with Morocco preparing to host major sporting events such as the Africa Cup of Nations and the 2030 FIFA World Cup, making the improvement of infrastructure and services an urgent necessity.
