Mr. Abdelatif Hammouchi, Director General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance, received Mr. Salman Chaudhry, Acting Inspector General of Police at the Ministry of Interior of Pakistan, today in the capital Rabat. Mr. Chaudhry is visiting Morocco at the head of a significant security delegation as part of a working visit aimed at enhancing security cooperation between the two countries.
According to a statement issued by the General Directorate of National Security and the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance, discussions between the two sides focused on ways to develop bilateral cooperation in the security field, examining new mechanisms to expand this cooperation to ensure coordinated efforts in addressing common challenges. The talks highlighted the fight against networks involved in illegal immigration and human trafficking, particularly following a tragic incident that led to the death of Pakistani citizens due to the capsizing of a boat involved in illegal immigration off the coast of Dakhla.
The Pakistani security official also expressed his gratitude on behalf of the highest authorities in his country to the Moroccan government and public authorities that contributed to rescue operations and protection for Pakistani citizens who were victims of an international illegal immigration network.
In a related context, both parties discussed challenges related to combating terrorism, especially given the increasing threats arising from both countries’ proximity to conflict zones experiencing intensified activity from terrorist groups such as Al-Qaeda and ISIS. The meeting underscored the importance of exchanging information and experiences to enhance regional and international security.
This visit reaffirms the depth of the security partnership between Morocco and Pakistan, as both are key allies in international efforts to combat terrorism and transnational organized crime.
