Cold Wave: Ifrane Authorities Are Not Resting

The province of Ifrane has reactivated its action plan to combat the effects of the cold wave by expanding its intervention area based on experiences gained in previous years.

In this context, various services (health, civil protection, national security, royal gendarmerie, auxiliary forces, and equipment) have mobilized all their human and logistical resources to mitigate the cold’s effects on populations, especially in mountainous areas. The competent services of the Ifrane province have identified the areas affected by the cold wave. These areas include several localities such as Dayet Aoua, Tizguite, Ain Leuh, Sidi El Mekhfi, Oued Ifrane, Bensmim, Tigrigra, and Timahdite, totaling 49 localities with 4,629 households and 21,940 individuals.

Pregnant women are also included in this initiative through monitoring their pregnancies by health services as part of this provincial action plan against the cold wave.

Furthermore, the accommodation of homeless individuals is being carried out in close collaboration with local authorities and the provincial delegation of National Solidarity at the socio-educational center in Azrou and Dar Talib in Ain Leuh.

To ensure the health care of the affected population, a medical device has been established that includes mobilizing health structures and medical personnel as well as programming about twenty medical caravans.

It is worth noting that to enhance accessibility to care and improve medical services, a mobile medical unit from the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity has begun providing free healthcare services to populations living in mountainous areas.
