On Thursday, January 2, 2025, the Sidi Ibrahim area in the city of Fez witnessed a new appearance of wild animals from the boar family, in an incident that has been recurring continuously in recent times, causing a state of anxiety and fear among residents.
The residents of the area expressed their dissatisfaction with this recurring phenomenon, appealing to the relevant authorities for urgent and immediate intervention to address the situation. This call comes amid growing fears of the danger posed by these animals known for their aggression, especially to the most vulnerable groups of the population such as children, women, and the elderly.
This incident is a continuation of a series of similar appearances that the city of Fez has witnessed in recent months. In December 2024, the appearance of a wild boar in the Tariq Sefrou neighborhood caused panic among citizens. June of the same year also saw a similar case on Moulay Rachid Street.
The danger of this phenomenon lies in the aggressive nature of wild boars and their ability to harm humans. These animals are known for their ferocity and strength, with some weighing more than 100 kilograms.
In light of these concerns, residents are demanding that the relevant authorities take immediate preventive measures to protect the area from any potential danger these wild animals may pose. These measures include securing the perimeter and protecting residents, in addition to taking long-term measures to limit the spread of these animals in residential areas.
The biggest challenge facing the authorities remains finding a permanent solution to this problem, especially with the increasing numbers of wild boars in many areas. Residents hope that their repeated appeals will lead to a rapid response from the concerned parties to ensure their safety and security in the face of this growing threat.
