In a significant step toward improving professional performance and enhancing efficiency within its ranks, the General Directorate of National Security announced that 10,393 employees will be promoted in the 2024 fiscal year. This initiative is part of a renewed policy aimed at raising the level of police service and creating a motivating work environment for the Moroccan workforce in the security sector. Among the beneficiaries, 466 women were promoted, highlighting the Directorate’s commitment to increasing female representation in security professions.
The percentage of employees benefiting from promotions this year has seen a remarkable rise, reaching 68% of all those registered on the promotion lists—an unprecedented rate compared to previous years. This progress demonstrates the ongoing efforts of the Directorate to improve the professional conditions of employees while ensuring fair distribution among different police ranks.
Regarding the distribution of promotions, 7,005 employees in uniform and 3,388 civilian police employees were promoted, with a particular focus on improving the status of employees in lower and middle ranks. Notable promotions included 3,564 employees in the rank of Police Sergeant, 1,269 in the rank of Chief Sergeant, and 1,716 in the rank of Senior Police Inspector.
These promotions align with a comprehensive charter established by promotion committees, which is based on precise criteria, including professional competence, merit, and performance in assigned duties. Additionally, seniority and professional behavior are evaluated to ensure that the most deserving and qualified individuals are recognized and rewarded.
The General Directorate of National Security views promotion as one of the most important tools for motivating employees to innovate and dedicate themselves to their duties. This approach strengthens their ability to protect citizens’ safety and ensure national stability. It reflects the Directorate’s increasing focus on the career development of security employees and the appreciation of their efforts, aiming to enhance performance amidst growing challenges.
