Taza Hosts Consultative Meeting with Children to Develop Child Health Strategy

On Monday, December 30, 2024, the city of Taza witnessed an important consultative meeting with children under 18 years old, as part of efforts to develop an integrated multi-sectoral child health strategy for the Fez-Meknes region. The meeting was held in the conference room of the Beit Ghallam Urban Health Center, initiated by the Regional Directorate of Health and Social Protection of Fez-Meknes and the Provincial Delegation of Health and Social Protection in Taza.

This event was characterized by broad participation from various social segments, attended by children representing diverse educational institutions such as Al-Albab Private School, Fakhr al-Din al-Razi Middle School, and Ibn al-Yasmin Boarding School, as well as representatives from the Social Care Complex and civil society associations like the Taza Initiative Activation Association and Thuraya Association for Children with Diabetes.

The meeting was supervised by a specialized team including the head of the Communication and Information Unit and the person responsible for child health programs at the Regional Directorate of Health and Social Protection in Fez-Meknes, along with the head of the Health Institutions Network Service and the chief physician of the Youth Health Space at the Health and Social Protection Delegation in Taza.

This meeting provided a valuable opportunity for children to express their needs and priorities in health. The speakers emphasized the utmost importance that the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, in cooperation with its partners, attaches to child health. The participating children appreciated their involvement in developing the child health action plan, reflecting the ministry’s commitment to a participatory approach that considers the views of target groups.

The meeting concluded with a field visit to the Beit Ghallam Health Center, where participants received explanations about various services provided, highlighting the importance of enhancing health infrastructure and improving the quality of services offered to children.

This meeting comes in the context of national efforts to improve child health, as the Ministry of Health and Social Protection works on developing comprehensive strategies that respond to children’s health needs. This initiative is considered an important step towards achieving the goals of the national integrated child health policy, which aims to improve health indicators for children and ensure their access to comprehensive and quality healthcare.
