On Thursday, December 26, 2024, the Mashwar Fes Jdid Municipality witnessed a comprehensive campaign to reclaim public spaces. The initiative was led by Mr. Samir Rashiq, the leader of the Fes Jdid Administrative District, and Mr. Mustafa Zariouh, the district governor, with active participation from auxiliary forces and security personnel from the First Police District.
The campaign targeted all establishments indiscriminately, including traditional clothing shops and dried fruit vendors. Local authorities removed all displays and goods that obstructed pedestrian walkways and streets, adhering to laws prohibiting the unauthorized use of public spaces. Confiscated goods were collected to enforce these regulations.
This effort aligns with the city’s preparations for major upcoming sports events that Morocco is set to host. Authorities emphasized that the operation aims to ensure smooth traffic flow and enhance the city’s urban aesthetics, presenting a positive image to visitors and participants in these events.
Field sources reported widespread approval among citizens, who highlighted the importance of reclaiming public spaces and restoring order, particularly in areas with high commercial activity.
It is noteworthy that local authorities are coordinating with security services and other stakeholders to ensure the campaign’s success and the sustainability of its outcomes. This initiative is part of the program launched by the Governor of the Fes-Meknes Region to improve public spaces and enhance the quality of life in the city.
