In an effort to strengthen academic knowledge and connect it to historical and economic realities, the Faculty of Legal, Economic, and Social Sciences in Fez, in partnership with Bank Al-Maghrib, is hosting a scientific seminar titled “Moroccan Currency: History and Techniques”. The event takes place today, Tuesday, December 17, 2024, in the faculty library’s conference hall.
Organized by the Department of Economics and Organization Management and the LIREFIMO research laboratory, the seminar aims to shed light on the history and evolution of Moroccan currency over the ages, as well as the technical processes involved in its issuance and circulation.
The keynote speaker for this seminar is Ms. Asmahan Boutakab, an expert and researcher specializing in numismatics at the Bank Al-Maghrib Museum. She will deliver an insightful presentation covering the various phases of Moroccan currency development, from its inception to the present day, while addressing the technical and artistic aspects of minting coins and preserving them as part of Morocco’s historical and cultural heritage.
This seminar provides a valuable opportunity for students, economic researchers, and numismatics enthusiasts to gain a deeper understanding of the importance of Moroccan currency and its role in shaping the country’s economic and historical identity. It also aims to enhance the appreciation of Moroccan currency’s significance within both national and international contexts.
