On December 9, 2024, the city of Fez witnessed an important inter-regional training session aimed at strengthening skills in using a data collection system and monitoring cases of rights violations of people living with HIV and key populations in health facilities.
This training session was organized by the Directorate of Epidemiology and Disease Control at the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, in partnership with the Directorate of Hospitals and Primary Health Care, and with support from the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. This initiative aligns with the National Human Rights Strategy related to HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis, and Tuberculosis for the period 2024-2030.
The session targeted social workers from the regions of Fez-Meknes, Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima, and the Eastern Region-Oujda. It focused on training them to use the discrimination reporting system through the DHIS2 platform. Participants included representatives from various regional directorates of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, provincial delegations, as well as regional and provincial hospitals.
At the conclusion of the session, participants expressed their satisfaction with acquiring new skills that will contribute to accelerating the removal of barriers to access to prevention and health care services for people living with HIV, viral hepatitis, sexually transmitted diseases, and tuberculosis. They also emphasized the importance of these efforts in contributing to achieving national goals of eliminating new infections of HIV, Hepatitis C, and tuberculosis in Morocco by 2030.
This initiative reflects Morocco’s commitment to promoting human rights in the context of responding to HIV and other infectious diseases, and highlights the importance of training and cooperation between various actors in the health sector to achieve these ambitious goals.
