Students of ENS Bensouda in Fes Protest to Demand Security and Safety

Students from the Higher School of Education (ENS) in Bensouda, Fes, organized a protest this morning in front of the institution to voice their concerns over the lack of security and safety in the area. They reported facing frequent incidents of harassment and assaults while commuting to their classes.

The students highlighted that the absence of security measures around the school has left them vulnerable to attacks by unidentified individuals. These attackers often rob them of personal belongings, such as phones and bags, and sometimes resort to violent threats.

One participant in the protest expressed frustration, saying, “It’s unacceptable that we come here to pursue education while constantly fearing for our safety. These incidents have become alarmingly frequent, especially early in the morning.” Another student added, “The situation has reached a critical point, with up to 16 assaults reported daily near the institution. This is entirely unacceptable.”

The students explained that their previous requests for enhanced protection have gone unanswered, leading them to escalate their demands through the protest. They called on local authorities, security forces, and community members to collaborate on urgent measures to ensure their safety and to put an end to these recurring attacks.

They proposed solutions such as increasing security patrols, installing surveillance cameras to monitor and document incidents, and encouraging cooperation between officials and residents to create a safer environment.

One student poignantly asked, “How can we, as future educators, teach the next generation about human rights and standing up for them when we are denied these basic rights ourselves?”

The protesters affirmed their determination to continue pressing for their demands until concrete actions are taken. They concluded by urging officials to intervene promptly to guarantee safety in the area.

Fes News will continue to monitor this situation and report on any developments.
