On December 4, 2024, the Moulay Yacoub municipality witnessed a large-scale operation to reclaim public spaces, supervised by the local authority leader and in response to strict directives from Mr. Moaad Jamai, the Wali of the Fes-Meknes region. The campaign aims to address encroachments on public areas and restore order in compliance with applicable laws.
The campaign targeted several key locations, including cafes, restaurants, and shops, where authorities removed illegal extensions that occupied portions of streets and public squares.
The operation was conducted in close coordination between local authorities, under the supervision of the municipal leader, and public security forces. This ensured the measures were implemented swiftly and effectively, adhering to legal standards. Field teams dismantled all unauthorized structures and barriers occupying public areas.
This initiative is part of a broader series of interventions launched by the authorities to reclaim public spaces across the region. The campaign will continue in the coming days, extending to other areas within and beyond Moulay Yacoub municipality, aiming to promote a culture of respecting public spaces and reinforcing the principle of equality in their use.
