Provincial Road 5304, formerly known as Regional Road 419, is provoking a wave of controversy and discontent among the residents of the Tafrant and Tabouda communities due to significant irregularities and violations, according to local opinions.
A newspaper article was published in one of the local papers, citing information attributed to the provincial directorate of equipment and transport. The article included statements from the regional director of equipment, who indicated that the directorate had not yet received the road from the contractor and that the work had not stopped entirely, but rather paused for technical reasons. He added that the white line was placed temporarily, even though it is commonly known that final horizontal signage in white is only applied after the completion of the work, while temporary signage should be in yellow. This justification did not convince the local residents, who considered it an attempt to evade responsibility.
According to local sources, the project to repair the road was announced in the summer of 2021, but it has experienced significant and unjustified delays, which local sources viewed as a waste of development time and a detriment to the residents’ interests, especially since the works are being carried out under the supervision of the provincial directorate of equipment and in coordination with a specialized consulting office and laboratory.
The residents renewed their call through “Fes News” to the governor of the Taounate province to open a thorough and comprehensive investigation into this project and hold accountable anyone found negligent in completing the road according to the required technical and engineering standards. They also demand that the authorities communicate directly with the residents and clarify the circumstances surrounding this project, which has become a glaring example of mismanagement.
