Marrakech’s security forces arrested a 20-year-old Algerian citizen holding French nationality on the evening of Thursday, October 10, on suspicion of involvement in cases related to the hacking of banking data systems and fraud.
The suspect was apprehended at a classified hotel based on a national search warrant issued by the judicial police in Marrakech.
He faces charges related to hacking into others’ banking card data and using it to make reservations and purchase goods online.
The searches and seizures conducted during this investigation led to the confiscation of a mobile phone SIM card, a mobile phone, and a sum of money believed to be proceeds from the suspect’s criminal activities.
Currently, the suspect is being held in police custody while the judicial investigation continues under the supervision of the relevant public prosecutor’s office, aiming to uncover all details and circumstances of the case and to arrest other participants in this criminal activity.
