In an official statement issued on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, Salaheddine Abou El Ghali, a member of the collective leadership of the Authenticity and Modernity Party (PAM), responded to the political bureau’s decision to suspend his membership. He expressed his dismay at the manner in which this decision was made, describing it as “the scandal of all scandals and the mother of all farces.” Abou El Ghali stated in the release: “I felt nauseous and disgusted by the degraded level to which some within the PAM have stooped in practicing flawed and deviant party politics.”
Abou El Ghali clarified that the dispute related to his membership suspension is merely a private commercial matter between his brother Abdessamad and a regional official regarding the sale of a plot of land, asserting: “I have no legal connection to this case; my brother is the one directly involved.” He strongly criticized the political bureau’s intervention in this private matter, indicating that the decision was politicized and aimed at damaging his reputation.
In the same context, Abou El Ghali expressed his dissatisfaction with the statements made against him during a press conference held by some members of the political bureau, which he described as aiming to “tarnish my reputation to forcibly remove me at this political juncture.” He continued, saying: “I will reserve my right to resort to the judiciary to confront the false statements and accusations directed at me.”
The statement issued by Abou El Ghali points to growing internal divisions within the Authenticity and Modernity Party, as he expresses his strong opposition to what he described as the “reckless and hasty” management of some sensitive issues within the party.
