The local authorities managed, on Monday, to tackle a massive fire that broke out in the forest of Douar al-Qalaa in the village of Bouhouda, Taounate region.
According to local sources, most of the fire, which destroyed a large area of olive trees and secondary forest cover, was brought under control until Tuesday morning.
The sources emphasized that the provision of air support through helicopters was crucial in the suppression efforts, especially with the difficult terrain and the spread of flammable vegetation.
Moreover, rescue teams faced great challenges due to the absence of clear road routes to reach the fire site, which complicated the extinguishing process.
On the other hand, the fires did not record any human casualties, and firefighters are continuing their continuous efforts to ensure that the fire is fully extinguished and prevent it from spreading to the surrounding residential areas.
