A number of villages in Taounate suffer from thirst and lack of basic services

Residents of the Ras El Oued community in the Tissa district of Taounat region, specifically the villages of Oulad Rached, Guineen, Oulad Ajana, and Beni Faroua, live in daily suffering due to the increasing lack of basic services, which threatens their lives and prevents them from living in dignity.

According to multiple local sources, the residents of these villages, which include more than 100 families each, are facing a severe thirst crisis, as access to potable water has become very difficult.

Families are forced to buy water at exorbitant prices or travel long distances in search of water, which burdens them and hinders their daily lives.

Adding to the suffering of thirst is the complete absence of an ambulance in Ras El Oued for more than five years.

The sick and injured are forced to travel long distances, up to the city of Fez, to receive treatment, putting their lives at risk, especially in emergency cases.

According to the same sources, the only health clinic in Ras El Oued suffers from a severe shortage of medical staff, with only one nurse providing her services on an irregular basis.

This shortage exacerbates the suffering of patients, forcing them to travel to the university hospital in Fez, despite the distance and difficulty of transportation.

The slaughterhouse at the weekly market in Ras El Oued has lacked a veterinarian for more than six years, which raises residents’ concerns about the quality of meat offered for sale and its safety for consumption.

Most of the villages in Ras El Oued suffer from frequent interruptions in public lighting, especially after the recent elections.

These interruptions compound the suffering of residents and threaten their safety and security, especially in total darkness.

The residents of Ras El Oued are appealing to the relevant authorities, led by the mayor of Ras El Oued.

The residents of Ras El Oued call on the concerned authorities, led by the governor of Taounate region and the head of the Ras El Oued community, to intervene urgently to address these worsening crises and provide basic services that guarantee them a dignified life.
