Judicial verdict for financial crimes in Fez: Multiple convictions on charges of concealment, fraud, threats and bribery

The Criminal Chamber for Financial Crimes at the Fez Court of Appeal issued a first instance public judgement in a case involving the deliberate concealment of a child’s identity, fraud, threats, falsification of medical certificates, and bribery. The verdict included a number of defendants who were convicted of multiple offences, and the verdicts were as follows:

Fatima Al-Fazih:

Conviction: Deliberate concealment of a child’s identity, fraud, threats, participation in falsifying medical certificates.

Sentence: Three years’ imprisonment, acquittal on the remaining charges.

Ghozlan Filali Naim and Shaimaa Filali Naim:

Conviction: Fraud, threats, participation in falsifying medical certificates.

Sentence: One year’s imprisonment for each of them, a fine of 1000 dirhams, acquittal on all other charges.

Mariam Bouida:

Conviction: Participation in bribery.

Sentence: Four months’ imprisonment, a fine of 2000 dirhams, acquittal on all other charges.

Mohamed Zahwani:

Conviction: Deliberate concealment of a child’s identity, bribery.

Sentence: Two years’ imprisonment, acquittal on all other charges.

Mohamed Hayati:

Conviction: Bribery, abortion.

Verdict: Three years’ imprisonment, a fine of 5000 dirhams, acquittal on all other charges.

Atef El Mashat:

Conviction: Bribery.

Sentence: Four months’ imprisonment, a fine of 5000 dirhams, acquittal on all other charges.

Abdelaziz Lamtioui:

Conviction: Bribery.

Sentence: Four months’ imprisonment, a fine of 2500 dirhams, acquittal on all other charges.

Djamel Bougtout:

Conviction: Participation in an abortion.

Sentence: Four months’ imprisonment, acquittal on all other charges.

Khemar Marjan:

Conviction: Participation in bribery, participation in abortion.

Sentence: One year’s imprisonment, a fine of 5000 dirhams, acquittal on all other charges.

Abdelmalek Mokhles:

Conviction: Participation in bribery.

Sentence: Four months’ imprisonment, a fine of 2500 dirhams, acquittal on all other charges.

Mohamed Hosseini:

Conviction: Bribery.

Sentence: Four months’ imprisonment, a fine of 2500 dirhams, acquittal on all other charges.

Omar Falloun, Bushra Ayadi, Khaled El Kahl, Younes Mesrar, Mohamed Reda Zouak, Mohamed Reda Zouak, Mohsen Naji, Youssef Khabla, Mohamed Jouan, Abdallah El Haras, Hafiz Ghaddouani, Omar Radi:

Conviction: Bribery.

Sentence: Four months’ imprisonment for each of them, a fine of Dh2,500, acquittal on all other charges.

Sanaa Mahaouchi:

Conviction: Bribery.

Sentence: Four months’ imprisonment, an effective fine of 2500 dirhams, acquittal on all other charges.

Younes Ben Fares:

Conviction: Bribery, participation in falsifying medical certificates.

Sentence: Six months’ imprisonment, a fine of 2500 dirhams, acquittal on all other charges.

Abdelilah Massouk:

Conviction: Bribery.

Sentence: Six months’ imprisonment, a fine of 2500 dirhams, acquittal on all other charges.

Abdelmajid Amkhissi:

Conviction: Bribery, participation in falsifying medical certificates, drug consumption.

Sentence: Six months’ imprisonment, a fine of 5000 dirhams, acquittal on all other charges.

Abdelmajid Kaouzi:

Conviction: Bribery, attempted abortion.

Sentence: One year’s imprisonment, a fine of 500 dirhams, acquittal on all other charges.

Mustapha Raji:

Conviction: Participation in bribery.

Sentence: Four months’ imprisonment, a fine of 2500 dirhams, acquittal on all other charges.

Jawad Amour:

Conviction: Falsification of medical certificates.

Sentence: Two months’ imprisonment.

All defendants were charged jointly and severally, with the exception of Fatima El Faez and Jawad Amour, who were not charged, and Ibrahim El Khadem, Mohamed Haddini, Hafiz Jannati and Mohamed Ayadi, who were found not guilty of the offences with which they were charged.
