Fez, Morocco – The Public Prosecution at the Court of First Instance in Fez has decided to prosecute the author of the song ‘Amo, Amo Rak Wald El-Zein’ in a state of detention, due to the indecent and offensive content of the song.
The owner of the song was arrested by the judicial police to investigate the circumstances of the recording and publication of this song, which was widely criticised by many observers who considered it ‘slutty’.
According to the sources, the young man, who hails from Jnan El Ouard, a popular neighbourhood in Fez, stated that his motive for publishing this song on his YouTube channel was to seek fame.
The young man explained that he had produced several ‘songs’ that he presented as ‘serious’ content, but they did not receive the necessary follow-up, which prompted him to resort to ‘triviality’, which is very popular on social networking sites.
This is the fourth fall of its kind among rappers in Fez, following the fall of the owner of the song ‘Sher Kbi Atai’ and his partner in the controversial ‘song’ that was considered to incite sexual abuse of minors. The owner of another song titled ‘Sher Kabi Hawai’, which included insulting phrases against constitutional institutions, was also arrested.
The two owners of the song were convicted and sentenced to two years of imprisonment for each of them and a fine of 500 dirhams, in addition to the obligation to remove the song from YouTube.
These steps come within the framework of the efforts made by the Moroccan authorities to combat offensive content on the Internet and protect public taste.
