Moroccan Government Announces Success of Anti-Inflation Measures: Significant Decrease in Prices and Improvement in Citizens’ Purchasing Power

Government Spokesman Mustapha Baitas today, Thursday, affirmed that the government’s intensive efforts to combat inflation have yielded tangible positive results, pointing to a noticeable decline in inflation rates and an improvement in citizens’ purchasing power.

During the press conference that followed the weekly cabinet meeting, Baitas explained that the inflation witnessed by the Kingdom during the past months has been largely contained, with the exception of some products.

He stated that the government has allocated huge financial resources to combat inflation, as the support for the Compensation Fund in 2022 reached 40 billion dirhams to support basic materials.

In addition, 8 billion dirhams have been allocated to support transport professionals, in order to mitigate the impact of rising fuel prices on public transport and freight transport prices.

Furthermore, a budget of 10 billion dirhams has been allocated to support agricultural inputs, with the aim of reducing food prices.

Baitas pointed out that these measures, in addition to other measures, have greatly contributed to controlling inflation rates, which has been confirmed by various institutions that monitor inflation indicators.

Baitas stressed that the government continues to closely monitor the situation and take the necessary measures to ensure price stability and improve citizens’ purchasing power.
