Moroccan Ambassador in Moscow Discusses Strengthening Bilateral Relations and the Western Sahara Issue with Senior Russian Officials

Moroccan Ambassador to Russia, Lotfi Bouchaara, met with two senior Russian Foreign Ministry officials in Moscow on Friday to discuss strengthening Russian-Moroccan relations and current issues in the Middle East and Africa that are on the UN Security Council agenda.

Discussions with Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vershinin:

Bouchaara held talks with Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vershinin on “a number of current issues in the Middle East and Africa that are on the UN Security Council agenda.” The meeting focused in particular on the Western Sahara issue, in light of its upcoming discussion in the Security Council.

The Russian side stressed the “importance of reaching a just, lasting and mutually acceptable solution to the Western Sahara issue, on the basis of relevant Security Council resolutions and in accordance with procedures consistent with the principles and objectives of the UN Charter.”

Meeting with the Special Representative of the Russian President for the Middle East and Africa:

Bouchaara was also received by Deputy Foreign Minister and Special Representative of the Russian President for the Middle East and Africa, Mikhail Bogdanov.

The meeting discussed “current issues related to strengthening the traditional friendly relations between Russia and Morocco,” particularly “deepening political dialogue on issues of common interest in the Middle East and Africa.”
