The city of Meknes has been embroiled in controversy in recent weeks over alleged breaches in the delivery of products related to Contract No. 34/2023 for the maintenance of public lighting.
According to a local source for Fes News, these breaches have prompted one of the companies contracted by the municipality to send an official complaint to the Governor of Meknes Prefecture, demanding an impartial investigation into the matter.
Discrepancies Between Proposed and Delivered Products
The complaint reportedly highlights discrepancies between the products proposed by the winning company and those that were actually delivered.
The company calls upon the Governor of Meknes Prefecture to intervene urgently to rectify this situation, which it maintains is a clear violation of the provisions of public procurement law.
Fears of Lost Trust
The complaint warns that the continuation of these breaches without a decisive response from the authorities could lead to Meknessi citizens losing confidence in the fairness and transparency of the public procurement process.
Product Delivery and Storage Conditions
One of the clauses of the contract’s specifications stipulates that products must be delivered and stored in accordance with the conditions specified in Article 2 of Paragraph 6 of the specifications. This must be done in the presence of a representative of the Meknes Municipality and a representative of the winning company.
Product Delivery Rejection Mechanisms
In the event of any discrepancy between the delivered and proposed products, the delivery must be rejected immediately, with the company being given a period to rectify the situation. The company is also penalized for any delay in delivering products that comply with the specifications.
Demand for an Investigation
The complaint calls for an urgent investigation into these breaches to ensure that the public procurement process is conducted in a fair and transparent manner and to protect the rights of all parties involved.
