Rabat – The Ministry of National Education, Preschool and Sports has confirmed the official start date for the 2026-2027 school year, stating that staff and students will return gradually starting September 1, while classes will officially and mandatorily begin on Monday, September 7, 2026, in accordance with Ministerial Decision No. 047.26, issued on July 3, 2026.
According to the official statement issued on August 7, 2026, the back-to-school schedule is as follows:
- Tuesday, September 1, 2026: Administrative and educational management staff, inspection, supervision, monitoring and evaluation staff, and national education administrator staff return to their workplaces to sign the official return-to-work records.
- Wednesday, September 2, 2026: Education and teaching staff, as well as teacher-researchers in education and training, return to their workplaces at educational institutions to sign the official return-to-work records.
- Thursday, September 3, 2026: Preschool children, first- and second-year primary school pupils, first-year lower secondary school students, and common-core students in upper secondary education return to school.
- Friday, September 4, 2026: Third- and fourth-year primary school pupils, second-year lower secondary school students, and first-year baccalaureate students return to school.
- Saturday, September 5, 2026: Fifth- and sixth-year primary school pupils, third-year lower secondary school students, and second-year baccalaureate students return to school.
September 7: Official Start of Classes
The Ministry confirmed that Monday, September 7, 2026, will mark the official and mandatory start of classes across all educational levels and cycles, following the completion of the gradual return process to schools.
As for non-formal education classes and Second Chance Education classes, the Ministry has set Monday, October 5, 2026, as the start date for classes.
The Ministry called on families, students, educational and administrative staff, and partners in the education system to prepare for the various stages of the new school year, ensuring the effective organization of school and learning time from the beginning of the academic year.
