Fez Judicial Police Arrest Two Suspects for Pirating French Channel “Canal+”

Fez, Morocco – As part of the fight against cybercrime, officers from the Fez Regional Judicial Police department have placed two suspects in Bourkaiz Prison, on charges of violating the intellectual and literary property of the French channel “Canal+.” The two defendants, who are described as leading specialists in digital hacking at the national level, were referred to the public prosecutor’s office at the Fez Court of First Instance, which decided to prosecute them while in custody.

The case began with the arrest of the suspects at Mohammed V International Airport in Casablanca, immediately upon their return from Saudi Arabia, in execution of a national arrest warrant issued in response to a formal complaint from the management of the French channel.

According to available information, the two defendants had been hacking the channel’s servers, which enabled them to steal broadcasting packages and resell them at very low prices. Their annual subscription fee was 50 euros, compared to the official price which exceeds 150 dollars.

The suspects were transferred to the Fez Security Prefecture, where the Judicial Police handled the investigation, using technical evidence and official complaints submitted by the French channel. This incident confirms Morocco’s ongoing efforts to combat digital crimes and piracy that affect international intellectual property rights.

The trial is expected to continue in the coming days to determine responsibilities and impose appropriate penalties, in line with the judicial process.
