Morocco’s Richest 2025 List: Stability in Wealth and Head of Government’s Prominent Rise

Rabat – Fes News:
The American magazine Forbes, in its July 2025 update, revealed Morocco’s richest list, which recorded relative stability in wealth levels compared to last year, with major names retaining their top positions.

Businessman Othman Benjelloun (92 years old) topped the list with a fortune of $1.6 billion, anchored by his leadership of Bank of Africa (operating in 20 African countries), his legacy in the insurance sector through RMA, and investments in international telecom companies like Orange Morocco via his holding company FinanceCom.

In second place came Anas Sefrioui (68 years old), founder of real estate group Douja Promo Groupe Addoha, with an equal fortune of $1.6 billion, benefiting from government-backed affordable housing projects that solidified his position as a key player in the real estate sector.

Third place went to current Head of Government Aziz Akhannouch with a wealth of $1.5 billion—a striking appearance for a sitting head of government on a billionaires’ list. Akhannouch holds a majority stake in Akwa Group (founded in 1932), which operates in energy, gas, and chemicals through publicly traded companies like Afriquia Gas and Maghreb Oxygène.

Global Scene: Musk Dominates the Summit

Globally, Elon Musk retained the top spot on the Forbes ranking with an astronomical fortune of $342 billion, driven by the success of his pioneering companies: electric vehicle maker Tesla, space exploration firm SpaceX, and his artificial intelligence startup xAI.

He was followed by Mark Zuckerberg, founder of Meta (Facebook), in second place with $216 billion, narrowly ahead of Jeff Bezos (founder of Amazon) in third place with $215 billion.

The 2025 edition set a record with 3,028 global billionaires holding a combined wealth of $16.1 trillion—a $2 trillion increase from 2024—reflecting the expansion of global wealth despite economic challenges.
