Fes News – (Insider Source)
Fes News has learned from a well-informed source that the Ministry of Interior is finalizing what has been described as the “largest transfer movement” among regional officials witnessed in the Kingdom in recent years.
The same source confirmed that this exceptional movement is not merely part of routine reshuffles but is directly linked to preparations for the upcoming electoral milestones, specifically the 2026 legislative elections. Through this proactive step, the “Mother of Ministries” aims to ensure the neutrality of local administration and provide a conducive environment for conducting elections under optimal conditions by renewing administrative cadres at both local and regional levels.
This movement, expected to be announced soon, will include senior positions such as governors and prefects, in addition to widespread changes affecting district governors, regional officers, and heads of administrative subdivisions across various provinces and prefectures of the Kingdom. The Fes-Meknes region is anticipated to receive a significant share of these changes.
This measure comes as part of efforts to inject new blood capable of meeting the major developmental challenges Morocco is engaged in, foremost among them the projects related to organizing the Africa Cup of Nations 2025 and the 2030 World Cup, as well as strengthening good territorial governance and ensuring the integrity and transparency of the upcoming electoral process.
